History

1992 - In March of 1992, drove to Claremore, Oklahoma to get a trio of Large Fowl Black Langshans from Forrest Beauford. After putting the trio together for a couple weeks, we started collecting eggs to set. They produced 25 eggs in 14 days. Twenty-four of these eggs hatched

Spring 1993, showed at the APA Semi-Annual in Mason City, Iowa. My first “big show”. Was awarded reserve champion asiatic with a cockerel hatched out of the original trio from Forrest. Also traded some partridge cochin large fowl to Norman Kardosh for 12 started black langshans from Terry Britt breeding.

Fall 1993 - Attended show in Janesville, Wisconsin and met langshan exhibitor Howard Kaehler. Acquired an outstanding pullet from Howard that was pair mated to the cockerel that did well at the semi annual. Howard also gave me a bunch of langshan memorabilia and copies of old articles about langshans.

Fall 1993 and winter 1994 breeding - Added two new males from Forrest. Hatched 212 langshans from 7 breeding pens.. Culled hard. Ended up keeping 18 of them for the next year.

1994 through 1999 - While in college and grad school (Go Illini!) my dad and mom cared for the birds while I still put the breeding pens together and prepared for the few shows we could attend.
